The Remnant
“And this shall be the sign for you: this year eat what grows of itself, and in the second year what springs of the same. Then in the third year sow and reap and plant vineyards, and eat their fruit. And the surviving remnant of the house of Judah shall again take root downward and bear fruit upward. For out of Jerusalem shall go a remnant, and out of Mount Zion a band of survivors. 2 Kings 19:29
In that day the remnant of Israel and the survivors of the house of Jacob will no more lean on him who struck them, but will lean on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. A remnant will return, the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God. For though your people Israel be as the sand of the sea, only a remnant of them will return. Destruction is decreed, overflowing with righteousness. For the Lord GOD of hosts will make a full end, as decreed, in the midst of all the earth. Isaiah 10:20
Ah, the proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim, and the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of the rich valley of those overcome with wine! Behold, the Lord has one who is mighty and strong; like a storm of hail, a destroying tempest, like a storm of mighty, overflowing waters, he casts down to the earth with his hand. The proud crown of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden underfoot; and the fading flower of its glorious beauty, which is on the head of the rich valley, will be like a first-ripe fig[a] before the summer: when someone sees it, he swallows it as soon as it is in his hand. In that day the Lord of hosts will be a crown of glory,[b] and a diadem of beauty, to the remnant of his people, and a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment, and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate. Isaiah 28:1-6
The Bible speaks of the remnant of God’s people who made it out of devastation and judgement. It speaks about God’s people being many, but only a few surviving, and the rest perish. I can’t help but wonder if this is a warning that we could be in for. Are we possibly headed for a similar outcome. Just as Abraham’s children were too many to count, but only a few remained faithful to God, so the world has many people today, and we all have access to the good news, but it is easier to reject Christ than to take the narrow path toward him. In the end, will only a remnant remain faithful to God? What a grievous sight that would be.
We have these accounts so that before it is too late, we can do everything in our power to tell people and show them the truth that God is the only path to survival. We have this information so that we can cry unto God now so that change can still happen while there is still time. We need to keep this message in our minds so that we can operate with an urgency that time is running out, and in the blink of an eye, it will be too late. Yes, it is sad, but let us be sad now and do all that we can now. Let us be motivated by this sadness to help get this message to many more and one day, we can all be in eternal bliss with God and his people.

Thank you Vani for this exhortation. We pray that God will stir in us that time is short and the message is urgent.
