Hindsight
In hindsight, I realized I could have waited with more joy and faith.
Psalms 33:20-22
20 Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. 22 Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.
Hindsight is understanding a situation or event only after it has happened or developed. However, we are called to have faith, i.e. to have hope and believe that God is with us even when we do not understand a situation.
When in a tough situation, it’s easy to respond from a place of frustration and desperation without hope. It’s so easy to allow the things we see around us to dictate how we feel and react. But when we are called the children of God, we are the opposite of this. If we have nothing else in this world, we have hope.
After the challenging situation has passed and we can see the light, in hindsight we realize how blessed we are. But we must do better than this and honour God with our faith. We must find a way to remind ourselves, especially when going through something tough, that we have hope. We need to remember that we serve a God who is more than able, who loves us and who will do it. And the only reason why sometimes it may seem like he is not coming through is for some good reason. We need to trust that. He may not always show us why, but we know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we can trust Him.
How do we ensure that we are reminded of this in times of crisis? We spend time drawing closer to God by praying, reading and meditating on his word. Talk to Him, build that relationship with Him, and when trouble comes, it will be natural to turn to him first and not feel frustration and desperation but hope.
Psalm 130:5 (NIV) “I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in His word, I put my hope.”
So, let’s not wait on hindsight; let’s have faith, especially when we cannot see it and it looks impossible.

Very good encouragement Vani!
‘let us hope and trust, let us watch and pray, and labour till the Master comes’ says the song writer.
I am blessed by this. I often remember Ps 27:14 – Wait on the Lord, be of good courage and he will strengthen our hearts.
Thanks again Vani.
