Meditate on the Word Day and Night
The Bible was first written on scrolls before the time when books were invented. Back in Jesus’ time, the Bible (Old Testament) was referred to in three major sections, which was the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings. What’s interesting about this is there is something mentioned at the major seams of these sections. At the beginnings and endings of these scrolls, the authors try to point us to some significant points. We highlight one today.
At the End of the Torah:
Deuteronomy 34:10-12
10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11 In all the signs and the wonders, which the Lord sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land, 12 And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses shewed in the sight of all Israel.
Beginning of the Prophets:
Joshua 1
8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

End of the Prophets:
Malachai 4
4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
Beginning of Writings:
Psalm 1
2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
These verses show us that at each seam of the sections of the Old Testament, there is mention of the word of God. And even though there is no mention of the word in the beginning of the Old Testament, John did tell us that in the beginning was the word. I believe this is significant.
John 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
When one is writing a book, it’s useful to highlight the main points at the beginning and at the end. We call this the introduction and the conclusion or summary. It is a way of leaving that main idea with the reader.
There is something significant to note that the word of God is mentioned at those main positions at the beginning and the end. I think it’s of value to remember the main point coming through. This main point is that one should meditate on the word day and night, and they will prosper. Prosperity here may not mean riches, but it is much greater than that. It is to prosper in everything that he wants us to do, that is His will for us. So, we will ultimately prosper with Him, which is far greater than anything we can gain here.
So, let us be mindful of what we give our time to.
Let us meditate on the word day and night and proper.
P.S.
Credit to Bible Project. I learnt all about this in the bible projects classroom on Jonah. It’s free, have a look.

Thank you Vani!
It is interesting, the things we do not notice though we read through the text repeatedly. The important little details that tell so much. Thank much Vani.
