The Promises of God
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away – Revelation 21:4
God loves us (His children) unconditionally, and has promised, to those who believe in Him and walk according to His word, eternal life. Along with this overarching promise, there are many other promises God has for us when we walk according to His ways.
He Saves Us
The Bible emphasizes through numerous scriptures that God saves. Despite our disobedience and in some cases outright rebellion (Romans 10:5), He promised to save those who trust in Him (Psalm 37:40; Psalm 27:1). God extends His forgiveness even though we did not deserve it (Isaiah 55:7).
Salvation is a free gift (Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8). We attain it when we verbally confess and believe in our hearts that He is Christ and Saviour (Romans 10:9). John 3:16 tells us that if we believe, we shall have everlasting life. Salvation happened when Jesus died to pay for our sins (Matthew 1:21; Ephesians 1:7). Salvation transforms our lives and gives us a new start (2 Corinthians 5:17). He also promises to save our loved ones (Acts 16:31). He cares for us and desires that all shall be saved.
He saves us from the enemy and the dangers of the world. God keeps those who walk in wisdom safe (Proverbs 28:26). God can deliver us from any enemy, even the mightiest (Isaiah 49:25; Psalm 72:12-13). As beloved of God, we are in Him, and He continually covers us (Deuteronomy 33:12). God rescues us when we are in trouble (Psalm 139:7). He will carry us even until our old age and will deliver us from all evil (Isaiah 46:4). He blesses the righteous, and He covers him with favour like a shield (Psalm 5:12). He provides safe refuge when we listen to him (Proverbs 1:33). And when we fall into trouble, the Bible tells us that we will not be utterly cast down because God upholds us with His hands (Psalm 37:24).
He Never Leaves Us
God never leaves His people or forsakes them (Hebrews 13:5; Joshua 1:5; Deuteronomy 31:6; 1 Chronicles 28:20). In Genesis 28:15, God said He will be with His people and will fulfil His promises. Even when we proved to be a disobedient people and in the face of our many failures, He promised never to leave those who seek Him (Psalm 9:10). Knowing that He is always with us means that we do not have to be afraid of anything. God gives us His peace so that our hearts can rest assured in Him (John 14:27). The Lord is gracious and merciful and will not turn His face away from you if you return unto Him (2 Chronicles 30:9). God’s kindness and His peace shall not depart from us (Isaiah 54:10).
So, rest assured as He is with us as we navigate living in the world as Christians.
God Leads Us
The Lord is the light on our path (Psalm 119:105). If we trust in Him and are willing to hear from Him, He illuminates our path, so that we can choose the way that leads to life and not death. This world can be misleading, and it draws us away from God. Therefore, we need guidance to live a successful life according to God’s word. Psalm 48:14 says that God will guide us for our entire lives here on earth. He gives wisdom to the righteous, knowledge and understanding (Proverbs 2:6-7). He can equip us with all we need to face this world. God said that if we acknowledge Him in everything, He shall direct our paths (Proverbs 3:6). He will be our guide.
He will steer us onto the right path once we trust in Him.
He Heals Us
He is our healer. He can heal our hearts, minds and our bodies from any affliction.
Psalm 34:18 tells us that the Lord is with those who have a broken heart and saves those with a repentant spirit. He can heal any broken heart, sickness of the mind or emotional afflictions that we carry. Psalm 147:3 reassures us that God heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.
He is also more than able to heal our physical illnesses. God will restore our health and heal our wounds (Jeremiah 30:17). God said that healing is for His children (Matthew 15:26). He called healing our bread. We eat bread/food to sustain our bodies. We eat daily to be healthy. Healing is needed for our broken downfallen physical bodies. We need that healing bread to sustain our bodies while we are here.
God provides that healing for us. Ask and believe.
He Satisfies Us
In John 6:35, God says that He is the bread of life and that we shall never go hungry or thirsty if we believe in Him. The Bible tells us that the meek shall eat and be satisfied (Psalm 22.26). God provides all that we need to live a spiritual life here on earth. He satisfies us with His love, kindness, mercy and grace. Matthew 5:6 tells us blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they shall be satisfied.
In Isaiah 44:3 God said He would provide water for the thirsty and streams for the dry ground. He will pour His spirit unto our offspring and His blessing on our descendants. In John 4:13-15, Jesus tells the woman He meets that He gives living water that will satisfy our thirst and give eternal life. He is able to satisfy that deep desire we have for happiness. He is the answer to all the seeking we do. We commonly search for purpose, happiness, joy and health. God is able to satisfy us.
If we seek, we shall find, and if we ask, we shall receive (Matthew 7:7-8).
He Rewards Us
Once we have endured through the testing of our faith, we will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those He loves (James 1:12). Even when we walk according to God’s word, we still go through trying times, but we can have hope that we will be rewarded one day. We will be rewarded much greater than any reward we can acquire on earth. A reward that is everlasting and is better than the greatest wealth, the largest house, the most amount of money or the most powerful position. These things will come to an end one day. These things are fragile and can disappear at any time. But our reward from the Father is far greater and is everlasting.
The one who humbles himself shall be the greatest in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:4). In Matthew 5:5, Jesus tells us that the meek (gentle, humble) shall inherit the earth. Galatians 6:9 encourages us not to grow weary in well-doing, that in due season we will reap. Proverbs 28:25 tells us that a greedy man stirs up strife, but one who trusts in the Lord shall be enriched. So, once we humble ourselves, keep doing good and seek after God and His ways, we will be rewarded with the greatest reward.
So be reminded to rejoice and be glad in persecution for great is our reward in heaven (Matthew 5:11-12).
He enables us to Overcome
God’s word says that we shall overcome through Him (1 John 5:4; John 16:33). He had already won the battle when He paid the price for our sins. The Enemy has no authority over us anymore. We belong to God. Isaiah 43:1 reminds us that God told his people that He formed and created us and that we belong to Him as He has redeemed us.
We are His.
God’s word tells us that for any temptation which we may experience, God is faithful and He will provide a way of escape for us, so that we may be able to endure it (1 Corinthians 10:13). The Lord goes with us and fights for us (Deuteronomy 20:4). There are reasons, sometimes beyond our knowledge for why we have to go through trials. But God is with us through it, speaking to us, helping us and providing a way for us to overcome. The Bible tells us that if we seek Him, we shall live (Amos 5:4).
So, seek Him and accept Him and His gift and you can overcome the Enemy.
Most of these scriptures highlight these awesome promises which God has given to us. But they also remind us that there is a condition. We need to accept Him as our Lord and saviour, and we need to live according to His ways. We need to have that sincere desire to serve Him. To follow His commandment to Love Him and love our neighbours as ourselves. So, let us press towards this to ensure that these promises belong to us.

A very timely piece as the world reels to and fro in fear and panic, even some of us saints. You have done excellent service here in reminding us that, not only does God want to save us, but he wants to love us and care for us.
Again, I am awed at the biblically sound and factual references used. “Good Job”.
Thanks so much pastor Man
Continue the good work, even in this time of confusion and distress. May God richly bless and keep you as you encourage others.
Very on point Vani.
