Blessed & Forgotten
Deuteronomy :4-8
“Do not say in your heart, after the Lord your God has thrust them out before you, ‘It is because of my righteousness that the Lord has brought me in to possess this land,’ whereas it is because of the wickedness of these nations that the Lord is driving them out before you.Not because of your righteousness or the uprightness of your heart are you going in to possess their land, but because of the wickedness of these nations the Lord your God is driving them out from before you, and that he may confirm the word that the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
“Know, therefore, that the Lord your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you are a stubborn people. Remember and do not forget how you provoked the Lord your God to wrath in the wilderness. From the day you came out of the land of Egypt until you came to this place, you have been rebellious against the Lord. Even at Horeb you provoked the Lord to wrath, and the Lord was so angry with you that he was ready to destroy you.
It is so easy when things are well with us to forget that it is all because of God. It is so easy to forget to be grateful to Him when all is well. It is so easy to take credit for what God has done for us. And only when we see trouble, do we remember God. Is it only when we suffer and are in turmoil that we recognize we need God?
James 1:16-18
Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. Of his own will he brought us forth by the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
The Old Testament shows us that Israel often recognised they needed God only when things got really bad, and they were being severely oppressed. And this passage above shows that they were warned not to forget what God had done for them. Yet still, after they got the promised land, they went about their way and served other things and not God. Do we do the same when we forget what God has done? Do we only try to reach out to Him when we become desperate?
- Lord help us not to forget
- Help us not to forget your blessings
- Help us to remember that every good thing in our lives is given by you
- Help us not to take the credit for your work
- Help to be grateful and humbled
- Help us every single day to recognise that you save and protect us from evil (Psalm 138:7).
- And let us take example from David and give thanks with great gladness (1 Chronicles 16:8-36).
1 Chronicles 16:11-12
Seek the Lord and his strength;
seek his presence continually!
Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles and the judgments he uttered,
Even our very breath is a miraculous work that He has done today. Praise God for Life, Protection and Deliverance.
Giving thanks always to God the Father for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Messiah (Ephesians 5:20)

Thank you for sharing, always encouraged !!
Thanks
Short but so very clear and so very true. The Title got my attention immediately. I wondered, did she misspell Forgiven? But as I read I understood that which we fall into oh so too easily again and again. Oh that we would never forget, that All The Glory Does Belong To Him, Our Great God.
Thank You Vani, another excellent piece. Please keep up this good work.
Thanks so much Pas.. You encourage me.
You know it’s so easy for us to serve God when things are good. But when we are blessed with trials, we think that God has forgotten us and we are no longer blessed.
Oh that we will see God’s hand in all areas our lives as believers, knowing we are never forgotten and always blessed.
Thank you Vani. God’s richest blessings be yours.
Thank you .
Thanks Vani short and very relevant. Everything we have and do comes from the Lord. We can do nothing on our own. All the Glory belongs to him.
Amen
