Clean and Unclean
I have been reading Leviticus, and it’s not an easy book to read. However, it’s wonderful when you see purpose and meaning that you’ve never seen before. It’s filled with all these instructions about what is clean and unclean. Leviticus, chapters 11 to 15 gives instructions about what to do when one becomes unclean and highlights that it’s important to be clean.
What stood out to me was how difficult it is to become clean again. For example, if one becomes unclean from a particular illness, he may have to stay away from others for some time, and then he has to bathe and wash his clothes. And he is not done yet. He then has to make a sacrifice of a burnt offering to then become clean again. If one’s house had become unclean, some conditions could require replacing all the walls or even destroying the house. I also noticed that sometimes it took time to become clean again. When one was unclean, even after washing, they were not clean until evening. So, when one becomes unclean, it’s not a simple or easy thing to become clean again.
Reading this brought to light the great sacrifice that Jesus made for us. How wonderful and amazing this gift is. Jesus has given us that opportunity to be clean and pure in an instant where he did all the work, and all we have to do is accept him. Reading this helps me to appreciate the opportunity we have where we don’t have to sacrifice anything, we don’t have to wait for a long time, and we don’t have to scrub ourselves clean for God physically. Jesus has made us clean and worthy to stand not just in the camp of the people of God but in the holy of holies where we can commune with him directly.
So, just a great reminder of what a blessing and gift he has given us, and an encouragement to not let it slip away.

Evie Sang: Clean before my Lord I stand and in me, not one blemish does he see.
I often think about how difficult life must have been under the Old Testament, and I thank God that we live in a time where Jesus makes us clean, in an instant. Let us Stay Clean.
Thanks Vani.
Thank You Jesus! For that great sacrifice at Calvary.
Blessings Vani.
