Don’t Drift Away
And he said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of Jehovah thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his eyes, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon thee, which I have put upon the Egyptians: for I am Jehovah that healeth thee. – Exodus 15:26
Every time I read a verse like this I think….this is so perfect. God has laid out exactly what we must do to be a good disciple. We need to listen and do this so all will be well with us. But it’s not that easy, is it? Israel is such a great example of that. They saw so many great miracles and yet still ..soon after those experiences they returned to the very thing God said not to do. And when we look at this closely we realize that we are just the same. When put in the same situation we would probably do the same thing and just like Israel, we would make that mistake over and over again.
There are two things I have learnt from experiences and testimonies of people much more mature than me in the kingdom.
1. We need to spend time in the word and prayer often.
2. The Bible was meant to be a lifetime book that we read over and over again for our entire life.
I believe this is the key. We need to spend time with God in his word and prayer for us to be obedient to him. When we stop reading and slow down with prayer all the other things start influencing us away from God and we start drifting. It’s so easy to fall into this. It’s so subtle we don’t even see it happening.
I’m asking myself that crucial question…what am I spending my free time on? And how is that affecting me in God’s kingdom? Is it drawing me closer to him or pulling me away so slowly that I don’t even realize it?
Help us Lord to see you in everything we do, a reminder to stop and talk to you about it and spend time in your Word finding out what you want of us and how to be obedient to you.

Thank you Vani for this reminder of spending much time in the word. Blessings to you
Amen. I often speak about how I observed a boat once, being made to sway so much on the water that I was allowed to view it from varied angles. Then I observed that because it was anchored, it swayed due to the wind and the movement of the water but it never drifted. It was anchored.
Thanks Vani, Good Talk.
