He Parted the Sea
Exodus 14
4 And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
…
10 When Pharaoh drew near, the people of Israel lifted up their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians were marching after them, and they feared greatly.
…
13 And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. 14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”
…
19 Then the angel of God who was going before the host of Israel moved and went behind them, and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them, 20 coming between the host of Egypt and the host of Israel. And there was the cloud and the darkness. And it lit up the night[a] without one coming near the other all night.
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 22 And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 23 The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
…
27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the Lord threw[c] the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. 28 The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. 30 Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore. 31 Israel saw the great power that the Lord used against the Egyptians, so the people feared the Lord, and they believed in the Lord and in his servant Moses.
God’s miraculous actions to free the nation of Israel are one of the most profound miracles we could ever witness. I say witness because even though we weren’t there, we have the privilege of hearing it (reading it) from God’s word. Therefore, if you believe this book is God’s, you must believe these miraculous actions happened.
I want to pick up the account where Pharoah (after enduring many horrendous plagues and losing his first-born son) allowed Moses to leave with Israel, and they were just at the red sea. God stated it before and repeated here that through these actions, he would get the glory and that the Egyptians would know He is God.
The people then saw the Egyptians coming with all their war chariots, and they became very afraid and complained to Moses. Moses told them not to be afraid and that they had only to be silent, and that God would fight for them. I thought this was so profound. We often react when we have trouble and try to fight our own battles, leading to frustration and failure. But Moses says it all in this one statement: The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent – Exodus 14:14.
Then the Bible tells us that the angel of God (who represents God) moved from the front position of leading them and went behind them so that he was between them and the Egyptian army. And it states that he prevented one from coming near the other all night, providing darkness for the Egyptians and light to the Israelites. Can you imagine? This is a miraculous show of God’s power of something physical protecting them from their enemies. And he was not done there.
Then God parted the red sea so the people of Israel could walk through it on dry ground. Another extraordinary miracle with such a grand visual. They crossed over, and the Egyptians came after them into the sea. Then God released the waters and conquered them all, freeing the Israelites once and for all. It says that the people of Israel saw the incredible power of the Lord that day, and they believed in Him.
There was also so much said about remembering this act of God. They were instructed to remember this and to pass it on to their children. Even though we do not have to practice what they did to remember, the message is still the same. We need to have these accounts fresh in our minds. It shows us who God is and who he is to us. He rescues, he is almighty and powerful. Can you imagine being there and seeing such actions? Even though today we cannot say we have seen such a show of power but let’s learn from those who did see it. Let us continually be reminded that He loves us so much and He is great. He would move the sea for you.

Hallelujah! We serve an awesome God! He will move the sea for us who call upon His Name! JESUS!
Thank you Vani.
I am awestruck by God’s miracles among the Israelites and Egyptians (all his miracles actually) but one that stands out to me is when the cloud moved to behind the Israelites and provided thick black darkness to Egyptians, while at the same time providing light for the Israelites; absolutely Amazing. But to the point, yea, we need just be silent and watch The Lord Part tje Sea, Move the Mountain for us.
Thanks Vani
