Refining
Psalms 66:8-12
Bless our God, O peoples; let the sound of his praise be heard,
who has kept our soul among the living and has not let our feet slip.
For you, O God, have tested us; you have tried us as silver is tried.
You brought us into the net; you laid a crushing burden on our backs;
you let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water;
yet you have brought us out to a place of abundance.
The Psalmist calls us to bless God.
Praise God for he deserves it.
God has given us life and has not let our feet slip:
A great reason to praise Him
The Psalmist acknowledges that God tests us
God refines us like silver
And that cannot be easy because we know that silver is refined through intense fire.
The Psalmist says that God lays a crushing burden on our backs and allows others to ride over us..
We go through fire and water
Yet our God brings us out to a place of abundance..
So when you go through that trial remember that God has allowed it and given it to us to carry, but he will bring us through. He will never abandon us. He is there with us and only allows this because it refines us to get better, to draw closer to Him and to become more like Christ.
Be encouraged in the midst of it.
