Danielle has no clue what we do for her, but we have no clue what God does for us.

Danielle is our baby girl. I have been thinking about the sleepless nights and the backaches. I have been thinking that Danielle will never really know what we went through and sacrificed to have her. Will she ever know how much we love her and wanted her? We don’t fully know what our parents went through to raise us. Most children don’t have any clue what their parents sacrificed for them. But regardless of what we are going through, and even though she may never know, we are grateful for her, our blessing. And a blessing sometimes means more sacrifice and more work but still such a blessing. 

I was thinking about how she will never really know. And similarly, we too, don’t fully understand God’s love for us. The sacrifices he has made for us. We have broken his heart, and we probably have no idea how great that pain is. Yet, he loved us with the greatest love there can ever be, and we turned around, spat in his face and were ungrateful children. And when we have ungrateful children, how do we respond? God is willing to forgive us when we are ungrateful and give us many chances to come back even after hurting him. Just like the parable of the prodigal son, he is waiting for us with open arms (Luke 15:11-32). Are we able to be such good parents?

So be reminded that we do not understand how great a love that the Father has for us and that we should strive to be like Him with our children. We are to love them and pray that God leads them to a grateful heart.
