Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

After the fall of Adam and Eve, God gave them the consequences of their actions, and here in Genesis 3:15 God speaks of the seed of the woman and the seed of the snake. After this Eve had Cain and Abel, her seed.

Cain and Abel bring offerings to God, but God favours Abel, and Cain is jealous.

God warns Cain.

Genesis 4:7

If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.

But Cain chose to sin, and the Bible shows us that Cain changes sides. He is now the seed of the snake because of his choice.

1 John 3:10-12

In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

So when we do right in the eyes of God (righteousness) we are the children of God and when we do not we are the children of the devil. We, as the children of God, must love our brothers (and sisters in Christ and outside). We are to love one another, giving of ourselves for their upliftment and praying for those who are not in the kingdom, demonstrating by our every deed the goodness of God.

And I can’t help here but hear the words of Moses to God’s people.

Deuteronomy 30:19

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

So life or death, blessing or cursing, children of God or children of the devil? We have to choose…
