Wait for It, It’s Coming
The just shall live by faith in the midst of unrighteousness…
When I return will I find any with faith.
Habakkuk 2
2 And the Lord answered me:
“Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.
4 “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith.[a]
Luke 18
And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. 2 He said, “In a certain city there was a judge who neither feared God nor respected man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, ‘Give me justice against my adversary.’ 4 For a while he refused, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God nor respect man, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will give her justice, so that she will not beat me down by her continual coming.’” 6 And the Lord said, “Hear what the unrighteous judge says. 7 And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? 8 I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”
These verses speak about not losing heart when justice seems to take long. We see many people doing unjust things and living better lives than us (the people of God), and we wonder if we are on the right path. But he says justice is coming, and it will not delay. It encourages us to pray and call upon God, day and night, and it promises he will speedily give justice. Time seems like forever sometimes. We all hear the talks of people saying, “Christ has been coming back since I was a youth”. However, the bible tells us to wait for it even when it seems slow. Do not let the feeling of time make us think he is not coming and that he will not be just. The time will come when he will be here, and he will have to judge us all. Let us check ourselves now and make sure we are counted in the righteous that lives by faith that he finds faithful when he returns.
