Born Again Incorruptible
Genesis 3
13 And the Lord God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat….15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
We once fell by disobedience and were corrupted (decayed), but Jesus came and gave us new life. Peter tells us that we are born again by the word of God and are now incorruptible. According to Peter, this flesh is bound to wither away, but the word is forever. We were once born of corruptible seed, and so we were corrupt, but when we are born again, we are born of the word of God, which is incorruptible and lives forever. Peter tells us to desire the word like a baby wants milk, and just like that baby, we will grow.
1 Peter 1-2
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: 5 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you. 2 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings, 2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby: 3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Peter’s advice:
- Lay down all things, not of God and desire the word
- Be obedient to God
- Trust in the Spirit to help us
- Love one another with a pure heart
And we will see God’s grace
Just a little reminder from Peter to desire the word it is of great benefit to us.
May his face shine upon you today.
