What’s Important?

What’s Important?

John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

This week I heard the news of a child being diagnosed with a bad case of cancer, and my reaction was one of great sadness. It was so heartbreaking to hear such news. The child had to go through treatment, which is so hard for the family physically and emotionally. I did the only thing I thought I could, which was pray and I continue to pray. But this incident made me rethink my thoughts about this.

I began to ask myself; do I react like this when I think of the unsaved people around me? Health issues are much more prevalent as I get older, and it scares me. When I hear of someone having a horrible disease like cancer, I feel so tremendously sad about it. But how much worst it is when we die unsaved?

When we are saved, we know what will happen when we die. But what happens when we are not saved? It is so much worst than any pain or discomfort we can experience. It is so much worse than the actual event of dying. I don’t think we understand what eternal suffering is. I kept thinking about how I felt about this news, but it is so much worst if that child grows up and is not saved. I realized I should feel so much more grieved when I think of a person suffering from the disease of not being saved.

But the good news is that being unsaved has a cure, unlike cancer and many other terminal diseases. We can easily turn that diagnosis into remission with one simple choice. I write this to help us all think of being unsaved differently if we don’t already. When we meet unsaved people in our lives, do our hearts cry out to God for them? Do we feel gravely sad that it motivates us to do something about it? Are we praying for them every time we remember them because we don’t want them to be doomed to eternal suffering? Let us set of hearts right and pray for salvation for them. Let us build relationships with them and share the gospel with them in the hope that they accept this miraculous cure today.

Were you blessed? Feel free to share that blessing with others
